Barrister Salman Safdar, a lawyer for the PTI founder, met Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi at Adiala Jail on Monday. The meeting was arranged by jail authorities and lasted 40 minutes.
Safdar confirmed the meeting in a post on X. He wrote: "Today at 4:30 PM, Adiala Jail authorities facilitated a 40-minute meeting with Mr Imran Khan and wife Bushra Imran".
According to Geo News, Safdar said he had met Khan after seven months and Bushra Bibi after 11 months, following repeated applications and requests to the prison administration.
Safdar said Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi briefed him on their health and living conditions inside the prison. They also gave him fresh instructions on certain legal matters and ongoing cases. 24 News reported that Safdar did not disclose further details about their health, prison facilities or the specific instructions.
Safdar said 40 minutes was not enough to cover all pending cases and legal matters.
Geo News reported that Imran Khan has been held at Adiala Jail since August 2023. He is serving sentences in the Al-Qadir Trust case and the Toshakhana case involving a Bulgari jewellery set. Convictions in two other Toshakhana references have been suspended pending appeals, and he faces several cases linked to the May 9, 2023 riots.
Geo News also noted that in September 2026 the Islamabad High Court directed jail authorities to end the isolation of Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi and ensure facilities under prison rules.
The report added that PTI launched a long march towards Islamabad in October, led by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi. On October 11, governor's rule was imposed in the province, and Afridi and several provincial cabinet members were taken into preventive custody.
