Confirmed dengue cases in Rawalpindi have risen to 84, according to the District Health Authority. One new case was reported in the last 24 hours, and no dengue death has been reported in the district this year.

Express News reported that 6,382 people have been screened for suspected dengue this year, and 5,862 suspected cases were reported during the screening. Seven confirmed patients are being treated in hospitals, and one suspected patient is under observation. A total of 435 patients have been admitted to hospitals. A later Express News report cited the health department as saying 6,397 patients had been screened in hospitals, while Nawa-i-Waqt put the number of patients admitted with suspected dengue at 438.

By month, Rawalpindi reported 51 dengue cases in October and 27 in September. No case was reported in August.

On the prevention side, 1,400 teams are active in the field, made up of 415 outdoor and 985 indoor teams. Rawalpindi has 17,859 dengue hotspots registered with PITB, and 99 percent surveillance coverage was completed last week.

Teams have checked 5,896,856 homes this year and found dengue larvae in 215,143 of them. Of the 2,033,692 other locations checked, larvae were found in 27,539. In all, 242,682 dengue larvae have been identified in Rawalpindi so far.

Action has also been taken over violations. A total of 2,798 FIRs have been registered for breaches of dengue SOPs and for larvae found. Authorities sealed 686 locations and issued 2,331 challans over larvae. Fines totalling 3,156,000 rupees have been imposed for SOP violations.

The figures were reported by Express News and Nawa-i-Waqt, citing health officials and the district health authorities. Small differences between reports in the numbers of screened and admitted patients appear to reflect updates on different dates.
