Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has resumed flight operations between Pakistan and China, with the first flight under the renewed service operating on October 30. The service reconnects Islamabad and Beijing through direct air links, according to reports from Associated Press of Pakistan, Daily Times and other outlets. The announcement was reported from Beijing on October 31.
Under the renewed schedule, PIA will operate one flight a week between the two capitals, every Friday. The airline said it aims to offer competitive fares while ensuring consistent and reliable services for its passengers.
Associated Press of Pakistan described the resumption as a significant milestone in strengthening aviation links between the two friendly countries. It said the move reflects PIA's commitment to restoring and maintaining regular operations.
Alongside the resumed flights, PIA has strengthened its cooperation with three Chinese carriers: Air China, Shenzhen Airlines and Hainan Airlines. The arrangements are meant to widen the travel options available to passengers beyond Beijing.
Through the partnership with Air China, passengers can connect to various domestic destinations through Beijing. Shenzhen Airlines will facilitate connectivity to key destinations through its Shenzhen-based network and other Chinese gateways. Hainan Airlines will provide additional travel options through its network, including connections via Haikou.
Together, the three partnerships will facilitate passenger connectivity to 26 destinations across China, according to the reports.
Daily Pakistan called the development a major step towards strengthening bilateral ties. It said the flights open fresh opportunities for business travellers, students, tourists and diplomats, while supporting growing economic cooperation between the two countries.
PIA said it will continue working with its Chinese partners and relevant stakeholders to enhance air connectivity.
