The federal government has increased the price of petrol by Rs1.85 per litre and high-speed diesel (HSD) by Rs1.75 per litre, effective October 29, 2026, according to a Petroleum Division notification reported on Wednesday.

Petrol will cost Rs377.91 per litre, up from Rs376.06, according to Business Recorder and Daily Pakistan. HSD rises to Rs399.82 per litre from Rs398.07. Express News reported that the new prices apply from 12am on October 29.

Business Recorder said the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) revised the ex-depot prices of petroleum products under the federal government's pricing mechanism.

The change follows a revision a day earlier, when the government cut petrol by Rs3.19 per litre and raised HSD by Rs2.25 per litre for October 28, The Express Tribune reported. The government introduced a daily pricing mechanism on July 17, replacing the weekly one.

The Express Tribune also noted that on September 13 Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced a Rs100 per litre petrol relief scheme for motorcycles, three-wheelers and cars up to 800cc. It was estimated to cover 11.8 million beneficiaries.

Under the scheme, about 10 million two-wheeler users and 800,000 three-wheeler users would get relief on 20 litres a month, with a maximum benefit of Rs2,000 each. One million car users up to 800cc would get relief on 30 litres a month, with a maximum benefit of Rs3,000 each.

On the international market, oil prices rose about 2% on Wednesday amid fighting in Yemen and an attack on a Saudi Arabian refinery, the Tribune reported. Brent futures rose $1.81 to $115.69 per barrel, and US West Texas Intermediate rose $2.52 to $102.42.

Dennis Kissler, senior vice president of trading at BOK Financial, said: "Crude futures once again pricing in nearer term tighter supplies on news the US is likely to re-start military operations soon, which could be more intense than in the past given the latest attacks on Saudi Arabia and other Middle East allies".
